My Perfect Day - Azzi Glasser

Perfumer, businesswoman and Urbanologist Azzi Glasser follows her nose to the best places in London...

How do you start your day?
I usually wake up early and have breakfast with the children. I always make a green juice which is mixed with celery, cucumber, ginger, lemon and fennel together with some great granola. After dropping the kids to school I start my work day.

Leisurely lunch go to?
I normally work through lunches, but if I have lunch work meetings then I usually go to Quo Vadis as Jeremy the head chef is a sweetheart and always makes me feel incredible welcome, as does Jackson Boxer when I take clients to Brunswick House. The food at both places is always seasonal, healthy and tasty. With my kids I love going to lunch at Lemonia, a great family restaurant in Primrose Hill as it’s local and happens to be their favourite.

Favourite way to pass the time in London?
Sadly, I have very little spare time, running two businesses and being a mother of two. I do like going to galleries which I usually take the kids to. We all really loved the recent Kubric exhibition at Somerset House. I also love to go to the theatre. I just saw the ballet version of ‘Her name was Carmen’, which was the first time it has ever been shown as a ballet - truly sublime.

Favourite London landmarks, and why?
I have many. I do particularly love the British Museum as the building is just so beautiful, the scent inside is full of heritage and has a powerful energy full of intelligence. Also love Big Ben as the children love seeing it and we never get bored of the magnificence of its mighty existence, it makes me proud to be British.

Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangout?
I love a glass of champagne, and particularly at my local, which is the Chiltern Firehouse, where I don’t even need to ask as they always know exactly what I want. Their whiskey sours are most certainly the best in London, too. The ambiance at the Firehouse is always alive and happy with the most creative cocktail waiters.

Favourite dining destinations, and why?
One of my recent favourites has become the Chiltern Firehouse as they do the best oysters, with one of the best wine lists around. I always get the same table there and the service is so personal, welcoming and full of intelligence and fun. The food at the Shed in Notting Hill is also an old time favourite and delicious every time. Also a big fan of Mark Hix and particularly like dining at his Mayfair restaurant, he truly is one of the best chefs around and also a great friend.

Final stop for a nightcap, and why?
It’s always nice for me to stop off at a place where I know the staff, the people and feel at home. Groucho is probably on top of the list as it's like going home and always such fun with interesting people that I know quite well. Black Dice is another favourite as you can have a great dance there as they particularly host great DJs with brilliant music.

Best hangover remedy?
I don’t like getting hangovers too often, but if I do, then home made green juice and lots of wholesome food is great as it gets rid of the toxins fast.

Where next on your travels?
I have just finished the summer holidays, so it's work travels next on the agenda. I am flying to Stockholm soon to visit a boutique hotel which is one of my next projects for my brand ‘The Perfumer’s Story’ where I will be creating their bespoke scent together with a full range of hotel amenities
