Lalo

From small time roots at El Rey Coffee Bar & Luncheonette, Gerardo Gonzalez went mega in Chinatown.

Where legendary Chinatown karaoke bar Winnie's once stood, find the first solo venture from chef Gerardo Gonzalez. After spending two years of building up a name for himself over at El Rey's in the LES, he's ditched the Cali-Mexi game for something with a bit broader horizons. This space is significantly larger than his previous digs, meaning you have more space to try and get a seat.

The whole vibe is a bit like an upscale diner hidden in a sub-sidewalk space with mustard yellow banquettes and a small bar to perch at. A semi-open kitchen emits delicious smells of dishes like coconut clam chowder filled with bright orange smoked sable and olive oil, and green mole with Bulgarian feta.
