Booker & Dax, sitting on 2nd Ave & 13th Street in the East Village, has long been known for its scientific twists on classics with crazy new methods, forgotten and seemingly insane old methods, plus a whole slew of generally tasty concoctions that would keep your taste buds guessing. Lead by Dave Arnold, founder and president of the Museum of Food & Drink, author, radio host and all about mega brain about the cocktail world, this small but perfectly formed drinking den has forged its own draw and reputation beyond just the cocktail bar by the Momofuku group.
All that is about to change, however as Booker & Dax are gearing up to close indefinitely following the refurbishment of Ssäm Bar (which B&D hides in back of). There is talk that it will reopen someday as a new incarnation, however, there is no news on where - or more importantly when - that will be.
For their final week of service, the influential bar will be hosting a series of returning friends to come behind the bar they all spent time in as the last party. Come and see Sother Teague of Amor Y Amargo, Stacey Swenson of Dante, Donny Clutterbuck and more. For October 10th, Mr Arnold himself will be behind the bar with Dead Rabbit's Jesse Vida.
Seeing and drinking the best.
