Cafe Americano

With Paninis and Salad by day, and cocktails with crustini at night, this UES spot from the Martignetti brothers is perfect, no matter what time.

Brothers Tom and Anthony Martignetti, the duo behind The East Pole, Brinkley's Broom Street, and Pizza Beach, have opened an all day/all night outpost in the Upper East Side which transforms with the time of day. Regardless of sunshine flooding through windows, or twinkling candlelight in the evenings, this is a charmer that will transport you to another place.

With the daylight, find a menu put together by chef Joseph Capozzi who's delicious chow you've probably tasted over at Pizza Beach, filled with salads, paninis, and pastries. Modelled after an old school Italian cafe, you'll feel inclined to nibble on plates and linger over espresso all afternoon.

As the night draws on, the space turns into more of a cocktail bar with the Negroni and Aperol Spritz being an obvious choice as you taste oysters, crostini, and prosciutto & burrata "roll ups" - it's basically an adult treat of meat and cheese. With the lights down low, you can easily picture you're sitting in a cafe somewhere in Milan.
