La Grande Maison

La Grande Maison, an 18th-century mansion, is a partnership between Joël Robuchon with French wine magnate Bernard Magrez (who owns 40 wine estates worldwide, 22 in Bordeaux) and situated across the way from Château Labottière - home to Magrez’s Cultural Institute.

The ‘residence’ will be like no ordinary hotel and no expense has been spared and with no spa or gym, the complete focus is on the art of wine and gastronomy. The six rooms (named after wine estates) have been designed (by local interior designer Frédérique Fournier) with an updated and elegant take on Napoleon III style.

In two dining rooms with only 45 place settings, guests will savor the chef's signature (haute cuisine) dishes and regional specialties (using local ‘terroir’ ingredients) such as entrecôte grilled over Médoc grape vine wood. Joël Robuchon is the most starred chef in the world (currently with 28 Michelin stars) and he's aiming to earn a three-star Michelin rating. Currently there are no restaurants bearing the coveted three-star distinction in the Bordeaux region.

Rooms are priced from €295 (around $370) per night.
