Dubai Design Week

Head down to D3 to immerse yourself in all things design at this annual celebration.

Running from October 24-29, this year's Dubai Design Week has a distinct community feel with a staggering variety of events and activations (over 150) not just at the D3 hub, but throughout the city.

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairperson, Dubai Culture, the over-arching event has more than doubled in size to incorporate trade shows such as Downtown Design; student programme Global Grad Show; signature project Adwab, a pavilion of exhibits from six selected countries, curated with the theme of 'The Human Senses; and a variety of talks and workshops with international experts.

And with D3 having truly come to life since the last edition of Design Week, the entire area is pulsating with a creative energy, with specially commissioned installations dotted all around, and a constant stream of live events. Not just limited to the high-brow design types, the Family Weekend (28-29 October) will see a pop-up design and food market by Ripe, live music performances, children's workshops in crafts such as doll-making, and urban sketching activities.

City-wide pop-ups at various restaurants and design stores will also take place throughout the week, including Design Ras Al Khor (DRAK), a design collective of four multidisciplinary UAE-based designers who are attempting to inject a dose of culture into the industrial area of Ras al Khor with a warehouse showcase of up-and-coming local design talent, alongside a Ghaf Kitchen pop up culinary experience.
