My Perfect Day - Asi Wind

Magician and mentalist, Asi Wind, shares with U his favourite tips and hangouts, giving U an insight into his 'Perfect Day'...

How do you start your day?

I am a very slow starter; I Usually wake up around 2pm unless something forces me to wake up earlier. First thing I do is grab a deck of cards and shuffle them for no reason.

Leisurely lunch go to?

My lunch is usually my breakfast, I go to Grace's Marketplace, near my place, they have a counter restaurant within a supermarket, they make the best eggs.

Favourite way to pass the time in New York?

Since I am a night owl, I go about the city during the evenings and nights. For example, I love to go biking in Central Park around midnight; the park is most beautiful and mysterious at night...

Favourite New York landmarks, and why?

I would have to say Central Park because as much as I love this gray city, the park offers a break from the very fast-paced city, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art since it’s relatively close my place and I like to quickly go in and focus on a few favorite paintings and leave.

Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangout?

I am not a huge drinker but I usually consume my alcohol neat, be it tequila, whisky or wine, and it is usually after a show with my magic buddies at Hudson Malone

Favourite dining destinations, and why?

I am the kind of guy that would go a place just because of one item on their menu. For example, the buns in Momofuku are worth the sometimes one hour wait, Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn, and the eggs at Buvette in the West Village.

Final stop for a nightcap, and why?

It’s usually on the sweet side since I am a chocoholic, so even a hot chocolate from Starbucks will do...

Rest hangover remedy?

It’s very seldom that I need such a remedy but if I do it usually consists of pizza, which I am not sure helps, and then sleep reclined at 45 degrees.

Where next on your travels?

My work requires traveling all the time, which I am very grateful for. My next destination is Africa, very excited about it since it’s the only continent I haven’t visited yet.
