Neil Duttson's Favourite London Gems

Urbanologist and diamond expert, Neil Duttson, shares with U his favourite London gems...

Moro

The owner chefs, Sam & Sam (Clark) have hit the nail on the head with delicious flavours and spices in their Morrocan restaurant MORO. I have been going here for over 10 years and it never fails to fill me up. I normally order three or four tapas style dishes to start and this always includes my favourite padron peppers. The lamb or the sea bass are incredible and the rosewater and cardomom ice cream is insane!

Zuma Knightsbridge

An old favourite of mine due to the fact that I had many successful meetings here at the start of my career. I don't even need a menu to order here because I know my favourites; crispy fried squid with green chilli & lime, edamame in chilli & garlic, yellowtail slices, spicy beef tenderloin, prawns tempura, dynamite spider rolls, spicy tuna rolls and to finish green tea and banana cake (which is a real Zuma secret!!)

Kenan Emini, the guest relations manager is the man to know at Zuma and has one of the best 'black books' in London. Kenan has become a friend over the years.

Chick Farringdon

Situated in the busy food street 'Leather Lane'. This is great, wholesome and delicious fast food that serves the best chicken schnitzel pittas filled with houmous and crunchy pickled vegetables. If you are feeling hungry grab a cup of their amazing chilli fries and either eat in or take away.

The Rosewood Hotel

I love a hotel bar and the warmth and opulence of 'Scarfes Bar' at the Rosewood is a great meeting place. It is inspired by the atmosphere of a drawing room and the sophistication of a gentleman’s club. In winter it has a roaring fire, a collection of cosy velvet armchairs and shelves filled with over 1,000 antique books. A perfect place for an early evening drink and snack.

Maroush - Beauchamp Place

I have been eating here since the mid 1990s and love the style of food. If its 3am and after a heavy night I fancy a lamb sandwich or if its lunchtime I still fancy a lamb sandwich with a fattoush salad and some houmous dip. Its the amazing flavours that have charmed my tummy into returning over and over again.
