Marciano Art Foundation

Los Angeles’ evolving museum landscape has become richer, with the opening of the Marciano Art Foundation.

Starting in spring of 2017, the doors will open on what looks set to become a Mid-Wilshire answer to the Broad or MOCA museums in Downtown, backed by brothers Maurice and Paul Marciano, who made their fortune founding the Guess clothing line.

The contemporary art museum shows painting, sculpture and photography along with installation, performance and multimedia works in a renovated former Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on Wilshire Boulevard near Koreatown.

While it showcases superstar artists such as Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning and Cindy Sherman, the Marciano Art Foundation sets itself apart in Los Angeles with a collection of works created in the 1990s or later, which juxtapose established and mid-career artists with young or emerging artists.
