The growing demand for healthy eating continues across the World. In a vibrant city such as London, you would expect to find dozens of restaurants catering for complex dietary needs, and with super healthy options. Well, you will not be disappointed by London’s offerings, as new restaurants continue to pop up, and existing names add healthier choices to their menus. Urbanologist Chloe Bowler gives a shout out to her top five healthy places to eat in London.
Based in trendy Notting Hill, Nama is probably the undisputed King of raw food eating in London. Dairy-free, meat-free, organic, unprocessed is its moto, and it really has succeeded in making raw food delicious to everyone. Open for brunch through to supper, Nama also offers catering for parties and events. It makes such delicious goodies, even the most dedicated carnivore will be impressed.
The Good Life Eatery started its life on Sloane Avenue, SW3 and has since expanded to Motcomb Street, and Marylebone. It is so popular, there are often queues outside for the raw chocolate brownies. They serve the most amazing superfood salads, and the great thing is…they also deliver!
When the Ivy announced their purchase of the wonderful site on the Kings Road, London Socialites flooded the doors so much, that at least three others have since popped up in Kensington, Wimbledon and beyond. As you would expect, the Ivy offers traditional Brasserie food, but it has cleverly embraced the popularity in healthy eating, and also offers delicious avocado on gluten free toast, and a delicious green juice. Tip: Book ahead for a cosy seat in the garden, in the summer there are shady corners, and in the winter there is a central fire pit.
One of the many Gordon Ramsay restaurants, Maze is based on the American Steakhouse, but for the non-meat eaters, the real gem is in the starters and sides. Tuna Tartare devilled eggs, and Crab Sushi are just some of the starters on offer. The Buffalo Chicken Fillets are full of flavour, the salmon is succulent, and the kale salad is the best I’ve had. Visit Maze on Royal Hospital Road and ask for one of their ‘caves’ for a cosy dining experience downstairs.
Ethos takes its culinary flavours from all over the World, and combines them to make the most delicious menus. Their aim is to make the World more ‘flexitarian’ so plant-based diets, and their food does not disappoint.
