Gstaad's Best Dining Haunts

A selection of Gstaad’s top restaurants according to the concierge at Le Grand Bellevue...

From authentic Swiss raclette in a cosy snow-dusted chalet to fantastic sashimi and sake in sleek surroundings, these are the top recommendations for gourmet eats in Gstaad…

Chesery

A Gstaad institution, Chesery serves up gourmet Swiss cuisine under Robert Speth, one of Switzerland’s top chefs. The relaxed but chic interiors perfectly complement the delicious and traditional dishes, such as Saanenland veal steak with chanterelle mushrooms.

Le Petit Chalet

A tiny, 22-seater wooden chalet located in the grounds of Le Grand Bellevue, Le Petit Chalet is the hottest dinner ticket in town. It’s notoriously tricky to get a table, but their indulgent truffle fondue is more than worth the wait (particularly when followed by the infamous Toblerone fondue…).

Olden

A quaint chalet, bedecked with window boxes of red geraniums, Olden is traditionally Swiss in appearance, but serves up some of the best Italian food this side of the border. In winter, cosy up in the intimate cellar restaurant and order the incredible veal Milanese and spaghetti sciue sciue.

LEONARD’s

Looking for a Michelin-starred cuisine without the formal trappings of Gstaad’s fancier joints? Enter LEONARD’s. The relaxed, unstuffy dining room – guarded at the entrance by a life-sized, tweed-upholstered camel – serves up delicious dishes from delicate Dover sole to Zürcher Gschnetzeltes. Their burgers are the stuff of local legend.

Wassengrat Restaurant

Perched atop the Wassengrat Mountain, this restaurant serves up hearty, alpine cuisine with awe-inspiring views of the chocolate box villages below. Spoilt for choice? The crispy rösti are the perfect way to refuel for an afternoon on the slopes.

Perched amid beautifully manicured parkland beside the Promenade, Le Grand Bellevue has been a Gstaad landmark for 100 years. In 2013, the hotel reopened after an extensive refurbishment, which preserved its grand-hotel charms while introducing a stylish new look and a relaxed, country-house ambience to its 48 rooms and nine unique suites.
