Within downtown’s Seven Grand, Bar Jackalope aims to bring premium whiskey to the people — those that make reservations or are members of the bar’s Whiskey Society first, of course. At the small back bar and library, guests can have premium whiskey four ways: neat (with a water back), as an Old Fashioned or Sour or on the rocks (with specially made large ice spheres that melt very slowly).
There’s a reverence for brown-colored spirits here: from hard-to-find, allocated American bourbons to Japanese whiskey to the best Speyside single malts. Nose-and-taste through a flight. Whether an afficanado or new to the spirit, the idea is to learn and appreciate while seated in the clubby space. The small outdoor patio is permitted for cigar smoking (a rarity in L.A.). Open Sunday through Thursday nights only.
Cocktails, late nights, client meetings.
Seated at a plaid banquette.
