The Wooly Public

With a reputation for exclusivity, this gorgeous space is open for everyone, from the guys who brought you The Wooly.

Once upon a time, there was a super cool members club called The Wooly, hiding out in the back on a restaurant in FiDi. It was known for celebrity-filled parties where the surreal was normal and generally speaking, you probably couldn't get in. Since its closure back in 2009, NYC has been missing its special breed of antics and glamour, although there are still small touches of it with their coffee spot, The Wooly Daily, and their special events space, the Wooly Private.

Whilst these tastes of conviviality-gone-by are all well and good, they also have finally opened a proper restaurant that keeps the zany attitude of the original club, but with the open arms of your new best friend. Get ready for a grand restaurant that's filled with dark leather banquettes, cultish artifacts, paintings ranging from absurd to impressionism and beyond, plenty of plants and a feeling of some epic underground party happening right under your nose.

Housed with all other things Wooly in the hundred-year-old Historial Landmark skyscraper, The Woolworth Building, the menu features expert dishes from chef Jeff Srole who previously worked at Masion Premiere and Craft. Expect dishes like an epic house Burger with applewood smoked bacon, huge salads with ingredients including strawberries, balsamic vinigar and kale, and a special throwback dish from the early days of the building: Frogs Legs and Tartare.

On the drinks side, you've got Eryn Reece looking after things. With a resume reading like your drinking guide (Death & Co, Mayahuel, Sons & Daughters), U know you're in seriously good hands. She has put together a diverse menu seperated into sections of old forgotten classics and new delights ready for you to enjoy.
