The Flower Shop

Hang out in a modernised time gone by with leather booths & wood paneling, plus crazy great food and booze.

Let's pretend you have a super cool uncle who built a bar back in the '70s, which mainly served as a watering hole for his friends, but also happened to be awesome? That's kind of the gist over at The Flower Room which, you may have guessed, doesn't sell flowers. This is the brainchild of the guys responsible for such spots as The Randolph, Carbone, and more, including William Tisch, son of Steve Tisch, co-owner of the New York Giants who happens to be an investor in the joint along with skateboard legend, Tony Hawk.

Up top, it's a touch-too-brightly lit cross between a dive bar and a diner with yellow booths, high stools along a small, memorabilia festooned bar and a juke box hanging out in the back. Downstairs, there's a distinct cleaned-up adult rec room, with another bar,  pool table, pink free standing fireplace and a sunken seating area perfect for dates.

Now, let's keep this story going by saying that your uncle had the good sense to hire an ex-Boulud chef to shape the kitchen, resulting in crazy awesome dishes like Long Island Squid with pork & pepper, squid ink and dressed fennel or Fried Chicken with curry sauce and burnt lime. Their cocktail game is also great, really rounding this place out. Go ahead and order one of their speciality drinks like a cold brew espresso martini, or grab a beer, no one's going to judge you.
