KazuNori

Focusing on the simpler things, this Sugarfish sibling is all about handrolls, sake and Sapporo.

KazuNori is the little sister of Los Angeles' hitmaker transplant 'Sugarfish' that makes the West Coast speciality sushi experience into an even more accessible format. Created by Kazunori Nozawa, these Japanese restaurants serve some of the freshest fish in the US and created a game-changing stir in LA when they first opened.

While Sugarfish focuses on the multi-course experience of the omakase, this little sushi bar is all about the humble handroll. Grab a seat at one of the 24 bar stools and order away with the option of three rolls for $13 or six for $28 or, go slow and steady and order individually. Nozawa famously uses warm rice, as they often do in Japan, and so is the tradition here, creating a multisensory experience with temperature whilst you stuff your face. They do have other classic plates such as sashimi and rolls, but it's really a handroll game here.

The space itself is simple and pared back with grey walls and a wooden bar, perfect for a quick bite no matter what the time of day.

This is the second KazuNori, with the first back in its native LA. Needless to say, it's a wild success.
