For a super glam start to the day, you can't beat breakfast at The Wolseley. Star spotting aside - yes, it still pulls in the rich and famous - it's my top choice for a high-profile meeting as it never fails to impress. I'll always go for the yoghurt with a blueberry compote with granola and banana. The granola is the best I've had in Mayfair - crunchy and delicious.
I'm a big fan of this Nordic newcomer in St James's Market - a more relaxed outpost of the two-Michelin-starred New York original. I love the laid-back vibe, which makes it a perfect spot for informal breakfast meetings. If I'm being healthy, I'll go for the Nordic breakfast - crisp rye bread, boiled eggs, smoked cod's roe and avocado. Or when I'm feeling more decadent, I can't resist a veggie version of Raggmunk - Swedish potato pancakes with lingonberry (the normal one comes with bacon).
Okay, it's across the border that is Regent Street, but this Ottolenghi-owned brasserie is my favourite for a leisurely weekend breakfast. I can't resist the Shakshuka (braised eggs, piquante tomato sauce, smoked labneh) - with a serving of sourdough on the side for dipping.
A home from home - it's where I hang out all the time (on business obviously). Breakfast here is always a treat - if it's a casual affair, I'll sit upstairs in the members' lounge and order a Cappuccino and a Kugelhopf (it's the best I've had, including in Vienna) or gluten-free toast - for no other reason than it's really tasty (especially with lashings of Arts Club butter). For a power breakfast, the Brasserie downstairs ticks all the boxes - not least because of the extensive choice on the breakfast menu. Everything is good here but my latest craving is the super healthy fresh mango on avocado, coconut and soy yoghurt, selection of seeds (Chia, linseeds and hemp and sunflower) & granola. I also love the new "healthy" full English (chicken sausage, turkey bacon, slow roasted tomato & poached egg). All washed down with one of the delicious cleansers - I recommend the Black Beauty (Blackberries, homemade nettle and pansy syrup, lemon & apple juice).
Anywhere that does crumpet with marmite and fried duck eggs for breakfast gets my vote. The only thing that beats that is the buck rarebit (Welsh Rarebit with an egg on top), an old Fortnum's classic that does it for me every time - for breakfast, lunch or dinner for that matter - along with a nice cup of Fortnum's English breakfast tea. Heaven!
