JAJAJA

A vegan-Mexican enters New York's culinary scene.

Vegan isn’t a word you would usually associate with Mexican food, a cuisine that seems, for the most part, to rely on meats and cheeses, however, JAJAJA is here to change that. As New York's first exclusively vegan Mexican restaurant, JAJAJA, pronounced “hahaha”, offers up a range of plant-based dishes that replicate or take inspiration from their non-vegan alternatives. Expect plenty of veggie substitutes like the 'Heats of palm ceviche with hijiki, bell peppers, tomato, avocado and cauliflower rice with cilantro-scallion-herb pesto'. Tequila and its sibling, mezcal top the drinks list naturally, providing the focus and use of most cocktails as well as a variety of imported Mexican beers and local microbrewery lagers. Freshly pressed juices also feature.

Located downtown, the venue neighbours local favourites such as 169 bar and 12 Corners and occupies the space formerly home to the Golden Carriage Bakery. Currently one servicing diner, guests can expect an all-day service in the near future.
