Founded by members of the Russian Imperial Ballet in 1927, The Russian Tea Room is go-to on any NYC bucket list. Supposedly the inspiration behind Woody Allens acclaimed film ‘Manhattan’, the venue hosts a cloakroom where Madonna worked pre-fame. Retaining most of its original features, including its Venetian glass eggs, famous red booths and green and gold colour pallet, antique revolving doors and iconic Bear Lounge with a life-size glass bear and golden tree taking central focus.
The menu comprises authentic Russian cuisine like ‘Blinchik Slow Braised beef with cabbage wrapped in a crepe with braising reduction’ or ‘Khinkali Georgian dumplings filled with beef and lamb’ as well as ‘House Cured Salmon Gravlax Duo of vodka and dill marinated and mixed peppered gin gravlax with preserved lemons, potato chive blini and grated beet horseradish cream’. A series of opulent high teas, a three-course pre and post theatre option and a collection of over 40 hand picked Vodka's are available as well as an extensive cocktail and wine list. Reservations are advised.
