The Grill

The midcentury American restaurant is the first of three to open in the Seagram building, which is undergoing Major Food Group’s $30m reimagining of the iconic Four Seasons space.

Only serving dinner initially, The Grill is housed in the space that, until recently, held the famous Four Seasons restaurant. Promising to channel the spirit of 1958 when Mies van der Rohe’s iconic tower opened, the menu has been curated by Mario Carbone and features dishes from that era: think scallops in snail butter, mock turtle soup, avocado crab Louis and lobster Newburg.

Works by Joan Miró and Cy Twombly, amongst others, all dating from the 1950’s, decorate the lobby with a series of yet unnamed works hosted within the restaurant’s exclusive private dining rooms. Due to the venues landmark protection status, structural changes have been prohibited, however, a full restoration has been made with refitted furnishings like the thick oxblood carpet, leather Knoll chairs and new banquettes.
