Babu Ji

This Union Square favorite has expanded, with a larger space and a new menu of innovative Indian cuisine and fabulous cocktails.

Babu Ji’s new location on East 13th Street comprises a contemporary space that is bright and airy, featuring sleek, white walls offset by jet black furniture. The kitchen is overseen by chef-owner Jessi Singh, whose inventive take on Indian dishes is inspired by the street food of his youth. Menu highlights include unique curry dishes, including duck, short-rib and fish coconut curry as well as snacks inspired by street food and meat and seafood from the tandoor oven. 

Chef Singh also offers a tasting menu at $62 per person offering a variety of appetizers and curries, as well as naan and dessert. 

And then there’s the new cocktail program, which offers cocktails for sharing (not that you’d want to share anything here), such as the Chat Cobbler made from vodka, absinthe, amontillado and fruits.
