A Midsummers Night at Restaurant Story

The course of true love never did run smooth, experience the twists and turns of Shakespeare's ethereal romantic comedy through food. For one night only Restaurant Story & chef Tom Sellers will be creating a tasting menu (of at least seven courses) based on ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’ The dinner is inspired by the journeys of the characters with additional dishes derived from direct references in the play. The dinner costs £140 including a welcome cocktail. Wine pairing is £80 extra.

Aquauvit Swedish Midsummer 

On Friday 23rd June, the night of the celebrated Midsummer’s Eve, Aquavit will be incorporating all the traditions of the festival. A maypole will sit proudly outside with a pop-up bar and food stand serving authentic drinks and snacks, with live music. Dishes include the classic “Midsommar tallriken” with a selection of herrings, new potatoes and Västerbotten tart served alongside summer-inspired cocktails. 

Aquavit and a song booklet!

Available for table bookings in the main dining room throughout the evening. The traditional accompaniment is a cold beer and schnapps, preferably spiced. 

Crayfish Masterclass at Aster

Celebrating summertime in true Nordic fashion with a Crayfish Masterclass at 6:30 pm on 21st June in the Deli Wine Bar, you’ll learn how to cook crayfish Scandi style, and then feast on your crayfish with an Aquavit pairing. Tickets £15 per person. 

Midsommar at The Harcourt

The modern Scandinavian-inspired restaurant, which opened in a Grade-II listed townhouse in Marylebone Village last year, is throwing a week-long summer solstice celebration this June. Finnish head chef Kimmo Makkonen has devised a limited-edition three-course menu that showcases the best traditional Midsummer dishes such as home-cured gravadlax and Swedish meatballs made from a secret family recipe. Renowned for its handcrafted cocktails mixed with authentic Scandi spirits, Midsummer is the perfect excuse to introduce some seasonal new additions along with a selection of Akvavit tailored to each dish. The Midsommar menu will run from 19-25 June and is priced at £35 per head.

Afternoon Tea - The Swan at Shakespeare's Globe

Eat your way through the twists and turns of Shakespeare's ethereal romantic comedy. Swan’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream afternoon tea is inspired by the journeys of the characters: from the pea flower of Oberon’s love potion, the apricots Titania feeds to Bottom and, of course, mulberries from the lovers’ tree. presented on bespoke crockery designed by Annika Wester. Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea is available as a savoury option - made up of beef sliders, scotch eggs and other moreish treats – paired with a tankard of Hobday Smoked Brown Ale. Available Monday to Sunday 12:00–15:00.
