aRoqa

A new Indian restaurant in Chelsea, offering a modern Indian dining experience that marries traditional Indian cooking techniques with global flavors and creative cocktails.

The restaurant’s name (pronounced Roqa) is a reference to an Indian engagement ceremony, in which the couple exchanges rings – it’s a lively party with friends and family singing and dancing, bringing people together in joyous celebration over food.

Designed by Architecture Work Office, the chic interior is black and gold with a soaring undulating gold ceiling and black walls. In the front, a long 15-seat bar and banquettes along the wall opposite it welcome guests, while the back room provides intimacy for groups and private parties.

Inspired by owner Gaurav Anand’s extensive travels the menu aRoqa brings together Western and Indian flavors, utilizing ingredients not generally found in the cuisine like avocado, kale, tomatillos, bacon or goat’s cheese. Take for instance the Habanero Tikka, which is a lamb kebab with habanero aioli.

The beverage program features creative cocktails, local craft beers and small producer natural wines.

aRoqa brings together great Indian food with an international touch and delicious cocktails. It's a bit of spice and fun, all in one.
