My Perfect Day - Rami Fustok

The owner of The Mandrake Hotel, London's hottest new boutique hotel, shares with U an insight into his 'perfect day'...

How do you start your day?

I put my face towards the sun and absorb the energy.

Leisurely lunch go to?

Haha, I never have time for lunch I eat and digest my work instead -on the rare occasion I’m not at my own restaurant, I go to The Wolseley.

Favourite way to pass the time in London?

Go to great exhibitions London is so culturally rich, right now there’s Basquiat at the Barbican , an amazing instillation by Arthur Jaffa called Love is the Message The Message is Death in a studio put on by the Serpentine, there’s amazing Chinese artist at Sadie Coles, there’s a Black Power exhibition at the Tate Modern, Rachel Whiteread at the Tate, Jasper Johns at the RA.,…I could go on…its always like this -and that’s just art…there's always something interesting to go to that expands my mind.

Favourite London landmarks, and why?

My mother’s sculptural Dumanis in Achilles way as it represents that the impossible can be made possible… and I love Norman Foster's Gherkin building - it's a beautiful architecturally and is undeniably phallic.

Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangout?

Old fashioned it's classic simple and comforting.

Favourite dining destinations, and why?

My go to is of course Serge et le Phoque because the quality is amazing but I also love a great Chinese restaurant in Soho as a change.

Final stop for a nightcap, and why?

Socialista as it has great atmosphere and I have many friends there...

Rest hangover remedy?

Bloody Mary and a spoon of Manuka honey

Where next on your travels?

California
