London's Most Fashionable Places by Luca Faloni

Luca Faloni, founder of the eponymous online Italian luxury menswear brand, shares with U his recommendations of London's most fashionable hangouts...

5 Herford Street

Branded by Vogue as the “loveliest club in London”, ultra exclusive private members club, 5 Hertford Street, provides the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, particularly the top terrace bar. The eclectic décor is owed to Rifat Ozbek whose claims that his brief was “no budget, no limits; more is more” is of no surprise! If you want the night to continue, you can always pop downstairs to prestigious club, LouLou’s.

Casa Cruz

Notting Hill based hotspot Casa Cruz, boasts an extensive menu of fresh, simple and healthy South American cuisine. With fabulous Chilean inspired mirrored and copper interiors and a stylish heated roof terrace, owner Juan Santa Cruz, investment banker turned restaurateur, designer and developer, aims to create an environment that “feels sophisticated and elegant but is also a home away from home”. Highlights include the Para Picar snacks menu, grass-fed Argentinian rib-eye steak and dulche de leche flan and the cocktails are a must try.

La Petite Maison

You would be hard pushed to find better French-Mediterranean food in London, executed beautifully by Chef Raphael Duntoye. This chic Mayfair based brasserie is light, spacious and coupled with the extensive French wine list; the dining room emulates a true French restaurant in the heart of its birthplace, Nice. Specialties include the Poulet de Noir au Fois Gras (a whole Blackleg chicken), arguably the “most thrilling dish to arrive on a London menu in years”.

Lisa's Kitchen & Bar

Situated in a minimalistic, white and glass space on Portobello Road, Lisa’s encapsulates the contemporary trend of home-style Scandinavian cuisine in London. Priding themselves on their Swedish inspired principles when it comes to food, drink and dance, Lisa’s provides the perfect place to do all three of these. Danielle Ciullo and Vincenzo Croce work hard to provide delicious, simple, Nordic inspired food at every meal from breakfast to dinner, drinks and dancing, creating the ideal atmosphere to ‘hang out’ throughout the day. Not that we needed any more encouragement but regular live music (the house band play every Thursday) and a Jukebox (every Friday and Saturday) are also highlights.

The Providores

The Providores, Marylebone, really is “home of the most exciting and innovative fusion food”. The continuously evolving and diverse menu from Kiwi chef, Peter Gordon creates a dynamic dining experience. Refined palates will appreciate the incredible menu where every complex and well thought through component, of which there are many, complements each other perfectly, along with The New Zealand based wine list. Apparently the Laksa of smoked Dutch eel, coconut, tamarind, soba noodles, quail’s egg and girolles is talk of the town.
