My Perfect Day - JC

JC is one of the co-founders of the Movember Foundation, the world’s largest men’s health organisation, dedicated to changing the face of men’s health.

How do you start your day?

I travel a lot so I usually start my day early by going for a walk and grabbing a double espresso. It’s a solid start to the day and I love watching a city wake up - the people and smells at this time of the morning are incredible. I try to stay off all communication for the first few hours and not have meetings. I use this time to think, reflect and set my day up. Depending on how I feel, I’ll eat yogurt and fruit or a full English breakfast if I am mopping up a night out.

Leisurely lunch go to?

I try and find local street food or unearth a cafe that does something a little different when traveling. Our HQ is on Exmouth Market where there are daily food markets with an incredible selection of food, perfect for when I am on the go. When I have a leisurely lunch, I am lucky enough to be friends with the founders of Root and Bone and get sent top recommendations. I try not to head to the same place twice and more often than not a leisurely lunch turns into a dinner and a great chance to have quality time with mates, catch up on life and have chats with the chefs or the owners.

Favourite way to pass the time...on Earth

Favourite way to pass time is to find the ocean and feel the sand between my toes. Growing up on the world’s largest island in Sydney, Australia, I enjoy anything to do with the ocean; sailing, surfing or simply swimming. There is something incredible about saltwater, sand and a little sun on your skin. In the winter I love the snow so you will find me up a mountain enjoying winter sports.

Favourite landmarks, and why?

Cinque Terre, I always love going back to this incredible place. This place holds so many amazing stories and life moments for me. The food, people and total relaxed Italian essence of this place is what makes it so special.

Tipple of choice and favourite cocktail hangout?

This is a hard one, I have been to many great places on my quest to find the perfect martini and there are so many great spots in London, LA and New York! However Swift in Soho London makes incredible cocktails and serves Slane Castle Whisky – what more could you want?! When I am lucky enough to be in New York I love to find a rooftop. Soho HouseThe Standard or Public Hotel are all amazing places to watch the sun go down and New York come to life.

Favourite dining destinations, and why?

I had the pleasure of going to Auberge Ostape’ Alain Duccasse farm property whilst Alain was trialing some new dishes, it was course after course with matching wine - incredible. I love Pasquale Restaurant in Lucca for it’s great food and wine collection and Belforte in Vernazza Cinque Terre for it’s balcony, a perfect spot to enjoy a great meal. The food scene in London is incredible. We are so spoilt for choice, from street food and pop ups to Michelin- starred restaurants, the hardest part is choosing where to go! When I don’t feel like straying too far from home, a fine meal is always had at Prime in St Albans with a cocktail to follow at Dylan’s.

Final stop for a nightcap, and why?

I love to find somewhere that makes a great Old Fashion. It’s my tipple of choice and the perfect end to a night.

Rest hangover remedy?

1 litre of sparkling water, a solid breakfast to soak up the night before and a great Bloody Mary

Where next on your travels?

Writing this on a plane to New York.
