Public Art

Miami Art Week may be a distant memory but we still have plenty of art for U to enjoy.

For anyone who hasn't gotten their art fill, here are exhibits that are open until the end of December and beyond.

There's a pop-up art exhibit – IRL (In Reel Life) – inspired by 12 classic American films at the Miami Beach Cinemateque, that transcends beyond the theater’s corridors into the bathroom.

As well as several compelling installations by world-renowned artists (such as famed Stickwork creator Patrick Dougherty) at Pinecrest Gardens.

IRL (In Reel Life) Pop-up Art Exhibit at Miami Beach Cinematheque.  With favorite films from the 1940s through the 1990s to serve as the inspiration, Jacober Creative placed their graphic design spin on American film culture, as filtered through the lens of the usually disposable medium of Instagram, recast onto everyday “objects of desire.”

The exhibit runs through December 31 and is free and open to the public. All proceeds will be contributed to the HOMY Collective (Housing Our Miami Youth.) www.jacobercreative.com.

Environmental Artworks by World-Renowned Artists at Pinecrest Gardens
Take advantage of the chillier than normal South Florida temperatures with a visit to Pinecrest Gardens. While exploring the historic grounds of this beautiful botanic garden, marvel at exhibits by world-renowned artists such as Stickwork creator Patrick Dougherty who has brought new life to South Florida's Cultural Arts Park with the debut of his latest site-specific sculpture - In The Thick of It.

Over the course of 19 days, the distinguished artist twisted and weaved 30,000 lbs. of willow tree saplings into a magnificent whirling, twirling sculpture. Also enjoy exhibits by nationally-acclaimed environmental artist and Pinecrest Gardens’ first artist-in-residence, Xavier Cortada. Runs through January 14, 2018. www.pinecrestgardens.org.
