Inspirational Paris

Designer and UK Managing Director of LIAIGRE, Asli Bohane, shares with U her five most inspirational locations in Paris...

The Musee Picasso is located in the Marais district of Paris. With over 5,000 works of Picasso occupying the gallery, this collection is the only one in the world to present both Picasso’s complete printed, sculpted, engraved and illustrated work, as well as records, sketches and notebooks of the artists creative process. The museum is also home to Picasso’s own private collection of pieces by Cézanne, Seurat, and Matisse, making it is a must-visit place for those with an interest in art.

As the second largest public park in Paris and one which I grew up very close to, the Jardins du Luxembourg is a beautiful inner-city oasis of terraces, lawns, sculptures and chestnut groves. Here, visitors can relax after a long day exploring the city, play tennis, rent small wooden sailboats or even start beekeeping. This charming attraction really does have something for every member of a family.

Founded in 1838, Le Bon Marche was the first modern luxury department store in Paris. Housing luxury boutiques such as Dior and Chanel, Le Bon Marche creates an intimate shopping experience for visitors, steeped in history.

For soufflés lovers, look no further than Le Recamier. Located on a small side street in the 7th arrondissement, the small but chic bistro offers arguably the most delicious soufflés in Paris. From mushroom, fromage, caramel salted butter to Grand Marnier, the selection is out of this world. Visitors can enjoy a la carte dining on Le Recamier’s covered terrace, where the experience is worth every calorie.

No visit to Paris would be complete without a cup of tea in the Parisian purveyor of fine tea, Mariage Freres. Since 1854, Mariage Freres has been sourcing and blending the world’s finest teas. Offering rare leaves from 36 countries, expert knowledge and exquisite service, this old tea house, is now one of the world’s most exclusive luxury tea merchants.
