Tender Greens

The Los Angeles-based chain, which is Danny Meyer backed, makes its debut in New York City's Union Square, serving a wholesome menu of California flavors.

The new restaurant, marking the 27th outpost and first opening outside of California for the chain, is located steps from the Greenmarket and neighboring Flatiron and Gramercy Park.

Peter Balistreri serves as Executive Chef of the New York location, having honed his skills in the kitchen at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in San Diego. The core menu features the kind of food "chefs love to cook for themselves and their families", and includes plates (made up of a protein and vegetable sides), sandwiches, salads, soups and daily market-driven specials.

Menu items exclusive to the Union Square location include a lobster salad with Luke’s Lobster Maine lobster tail over baby gem and watercress, as well as a Greenmarket chicken salad using produce sourced from the nearby Union Square Greenmarket and next door neighbor Beecher’s flagship reserve cheese over a custom lettuce mix from Gotham Greens.

If U're looking for a healthy, wholesome restaurant with a bit of California sunshine, Tender Greens is the place for U.
