Bringing traditional art to life in ways previously unimaginable, the travelling exhibition takes you on a journey through the artist's life and times with multimedia projections of his works, and text displays of his thought-provoking quotes, accompanied by a specially curated classical music score that echoes the themes and moods of the paintings.
Over 3,000 artworks are displayed on oversized digital screens that surround the viewer, with the technology allowing the masterpieces to be viewed in incredible detail, and animating them - the blades of a windmill actually turn, for instance - to make for a stimulating experience that is as fun as it is educational.
The exhibition is hosted at L’Atelier des Lumières museum, Paris’s first digital art museum nestled in the city’s 11th arrondissement, inhabiting the renovated remains of a 19th-century foundry. Tickets are priced from €14,50.
