Our U Must Visit Summer Hotspots

Discover our most coveted hot spots for this summer's al fresco action...

The Garden Room at Annabel's

The aesthetically pleasing Garden Room at Annabel's - on the ground floor - is the ultimate ethereal space in which to drink and dine year round (with its retractable glass roof), surrounded by stunning hand-painted gold and silver leaf trompe l’oeil - inspired by the gardens of Levens Hall in Lancashire, bespoke tulip and iris chandeliers and a breathtaking pink onyx, back-lit bar - overseen by designer Martin Brudnizki. The Club includes four new restaurants, seven bars, two private dining rooms and a cigar salon, spread across four spacious floors. We would also suggesting heading up to the secret roof top terrace.

The Courtyard at Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden

At the heart of Petersham Nurseries Covent Garden is Floral Court, a central courtyard that captures the spirit of the business in its new location. Surrounded by evergreen walls, the courtyard combines English country charm with Italian elegance. A haven for the senses, the iconic romanticism and signature style attributed to Petersham Nurseries is evident in this urban garden. Handcrafted Italian terracotta pots brim with dramatically wild, colourful and fragrant displays of seasonal plants and flowers. During the spring and summer months, tables flow out onto the courtyard for al fresco dining.

Jurema at The Mandrake hotel

At the heart of electric Mandrake hotel (in Fitzrovia) is Jurema, designed by world renowned landscape architects Bureau Bas Smets. The Jurema bar on the first-floor terrace (on the palm tree-studded inner courtyard) is a laid-back cabana affair surrounded by a lush, evergreen sanctuary of hanging passion flower and jasmine plants with a wooden shack-style bar and raffia seating – designed the gardens of Babylon and overlooks the private courtyard of the ground floor Waeska bar- serving up botanical-based cocktails. On the second floor terrace, there's a glasshouse apothecary full of exotic medicinal plants, which can be used for private hire and dining. Definitely one to check in to.

White City House

White City House is our favourite ever outpost from the Soho House Group. Housed in the BBC headquarters in West London in the familiar building’s original Grade-II listed central ring, with three vast floors of club space, a three-screen Electric Cinema, 25,000 sq ft gym, an indoor pool and a rooftop pool on the stunning outdoor terrace - as well as 45 bedrooms and an Allis bar open to the public. Classic BBC programmes have influenced the design, with references to the Blue Peter Garden on the terrace, and a relaxed Playschool area in front of the kitchen. Their aim is for White City House to bring to west London what Shoreditch House brought to east London when it opened in 2007. Job done.

The Ivy Chelsea Garden

One of the restaurant’s most popular areas and pièce de résistance is its extensive terrace and pretty garden, which sits at the back of the main building, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the King’s Road. Designed by Cameron Landscapes and Gardens, the garden and terrace feature classic design elements, including arched antique mirrors, leafy trellises and an eclectic mix of antique pots and planters to complement magnolias, hydrangeas, cyclamens and Boston ferns amongst others, making the garden relaxed and luscious and the ideal setting for long, leisurely lunches.
