Hardwood on Hudson

This New American restaurant in the West Village promises cozy neighborhood vibes and an upmarket seafood-forward menu.

Hardwood on Hudson is the latest restaurant opening from Terry and Lisa Harwood – the couple behind Vine Street Café on Shelter Island – in partnership with their longtime friends Bill and Kim Nguyen Block.

Chef Terry Harwood dons the whites at this restaurant with a menu focused on New American cuisine with European influences. Small dishes include fresh oysters, crispy calamari and “the village beet” salad, featuring pickled beets, feta and a peppered pistachio brittle. Mains meanwhile include larger options such as rigatoni bolognese, wood-roasted chicken with greens and an upstate lamb burger, topped with raclette cheese.

The interior of Hardwood on Hudson is reminiscent of European-style cafés, complete with tiled floors, marble tables and built-in window seats. A brass-framed bar leads you to the main dining room, featuring vintage elements and warm wooden furnishings, as well as a small garden in the back.
