You’ll most likely smell the aroma before finding this hidden gem that offers a true authentic BBQ experience. You can choose from lamb, free-range chicken, steak or the best filet of beef I’ve ever tried! What makes Balafia so special and unique is the grill that is flamed with three different types of wood: almond, carob and olive wood, which gives the incomparable taste! If you are a garlic lover, you mustn’t go past the homemade aioli – it’s the best I’ve ever tried! While Balafia isn’t ideal for vegetarians, there is an amazing tomato salad, which amazes me how a plain tomato salad can taste so good! You must book in advance which in itself speaks in volume that it is a must do.
ES Torrent restaurant is located right on the beautiful bay of Porroig on the coast of San Jose. The beach club and restaurant is often considered to have the best seafood on the Island, which I can definitely vouch for. My favourite thing about the produce, and probably why it is so good, is the ‘zero kilometre’ policy they have in place, so you are always guaranteed fresh seafood. I love to spend a day by the beach here eating the best seafood or come for the evening for their fantastic paella.
When I’m missing Farm Girl I always hit up Passion Café. It has a similar ethos to Farm Girl, in that it has a healthy, farm-to-plate approach in a cool atmosphere. Good coffee is hard to find in Ibiza so I can always get a great coffee here also when I need a fix. Luckily there are a few locations dotted around the island which is super convenient, and they all have a slightly different theme. They also have the best selection of juices, smoothies and detoxes – which sometimes can be much needed on holiday!
Ca Na Xica Hotel offers the most luxurious retreat in a bucolic and sun-dappled Ibizan country-side setting. I love to make use of the incredible swimming pool and could spend all day lounging in the gorgeous gardens. The hotel also has the most amazing in-house spa which is exclusive to guests which tops off the perfect relaxation getaway.
Can Soleil is a private villa in the south of the island. It has all these different buildings so it feels like a little village. It’s about 30 minutes from the airport and really close to Cala Bassa. It’s renowned for its incredible theatrical parties.
