Lupulo

George Mendes rose to fame as the chef behind Michelin-starred Aldea. Lupulo is Aldea's more casual little sister in Chelsea, offering rustic Portuguese fare and craft beer.

Lupulo is inspired by the tavernas and cervejarias of Lisbon. The second restaurant from George Mendes, it offers similar Portuguese flavors as his first, Aldea, but the formal tasting counter setting has been swapped for a more casual ambience, with a wood-fired oven taking center stage, a coffee bar, raw bar, and a takeout window.

The tapas-style menu includes classic dishes such as grilled sardines, fava beans and blood sausage, and bacalhau, as well as more creative variations: shrimp porridge with soft hen egg, parsley and chili pepper or grilled green asparagus with dried sea urchin, sorrel and walnut. Lupulo, meaning hops in Portuguese, offers both American and Portuguese craft beers, simple cocktails and an all-Portuguese wine list.
