Mokum

A new neighborhood restaurant has opened on the Upper West Side, named after the Yiddish word for “safe haven”.

Brought to U by Tea Zegarac Pollock, a medical researcher and chef, Benjamin Vaschetti, who have both lived on the Upper West Side for years and wanted to open a good dining spot for the neighborhood.

Their all-day restaurant, Mokum, is casual with internationally-inspired dishes showcasing the finest local ingredients. Vaschetti, who is from Provence and worked at Le Cirque, serves his specialty, ratatouille, which will always be on the menu. Mokum also offers a small yet carefully-chosen selection of wines, as well as cocktails.
