Designed and built by the Knights of St. John in the sixteenth century as part of the defensive bastions guarding the newly constructed city of Valletta. Rampila overlooks the City Gate and Bridge and has been recently remodeled by renowned crchitect Renzo Piano and features an attractive terrace (tucked between the great defensive city walls) with incredible views over the entrance to the city. There's also an cavelike interior tunnel restaurant and wine bar, and a curious Maltese folk history museum. Rampila serves traditional Maltese food - including rabbit dishes and fish specialities. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
An historic dining experience
The Rampila Terrace is possibly the most attractive outdoor dining location in Valletta. Attractively laid out with Mediterranean planting with ancient olive trees and well carved from the rock.
Maltese goats cheese parcel wrapped in Filo pastry and served with fig jam; traditional Maltese braised rabbit in a date & raisin rabbit jus and brown meagre fillets with cherry tomato & herb salsa.
