Untitled

The Whitney Museum of American Art has reopened after relocating to the impressive Renzo Piano designed space Downtown - and with it comes Danny Meyer's hotly anticipated restaurant: Untitled.

Originally found in the Whitney's Upper East Side location, Meyer's farm-to-table cafe closed back in October ahead of the move to the Meatpacking District. With floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the new corner location of Untitled appears to put the diners on display, much like the art occupying the rest of the building. Pegged by industrial cables with mid-century modern furnishings, the far wall is occupied by a long open kitchen fronted by a bar. Outdoors will be further seating options, with heat lamps for cool evenings.

This new incarnation has Gramercy Tavern's award-winning Michael Anthony as executive chef, as well as Suzanne Cupps as chef de cuisine. They have created a vegetable-heavy menu that will change monthly. They are also responsible for the hidden gem on the eighth floor, the more casual Studio Cafe. With a light menu of salads and snacks, the real appeal is the view from the outdoor terrace, though this space is only accessible to museum visitors.
