Established in 1936, the rustic wood-panelled tavern of Gambrinus is something of an institution for seafood - and considered by many to be one of Lisbon's best restaurants. A well-heeled crowd frequent this place for its impeccable service and a very traditional menu of Portuguese specialties and seafood delicacies, including an unforgettable shellfish bisque and delicious steamed clams. Revered Portuguese chef Nuno Mendes comments, "Old and classic, but the food is good. The room feels like it stopped in time early last century." Grab a seat at the counter if you can.
