Secret speakeasies may rule the underground nightlife scene of New York City, but Nippon Bottle Company is the first of its kind to open in Dubai.

Seemingly out of character with the city’s customary glitzy well-advertised night spots, this unique venue is understated, intimate and above all, relatively unknown - but that’s its charm.

Nippon Bottle Company is reachable from the lobby level of the Dusit Thani Dubai hotel. Its entrance is unmarked except for a fake bookcase on the left of the lobby, which guests must pull open where they’ll find a room filled with mirrors. They must then push a marked mirror which will let them into the main venue, which is intimate yet welcoming with Japanese influences dominating the quirky decor.

Japanese culture also influences the drinks menu, which is full of signature concoctions such as the Hattori Hanzo and the Blushing Geisha. Arguably Dubai’s hippest new bar, Nippon Bottle Company needs to be seen to be believed. The biggest challenge lies in finding it.
