Team Torrisi Takeover The Four Seasons

The unstoppable Torrisi boys are at it again, this time taking on the Midtown classic that is The Four Seasons for a major revamp come 2016.

Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi, and Jess Zalaznick of the Major Food Group have just been named as successors to The Four Seasons - pictured above in 1959 when it first opened - by Seagram Building owner Aby Rosen. The team, famous for fashionable downtown hot spots Dirty French, Santina, and Carbone (where President Obama took his daughter for dinner recently), have reportedly signed a lease to buy the restaurant in partnership with Rosen. They plan to upgrade the space next year, reopening with a new feel and no doubt that distinctive Torrisi-style stamp that they've become famous for.

The Four Seasons reincarnation will involve three separate "experiences" with the Pool Room, the Grill Room, and the Brasserie offering different menus and atmosphere. Jeff Zalaznick tells the Times: "The idea is to restore and reinvigorate the greatest restaurant space that’s ever existed."

This seems the perfect pairing to give the stalwart an update and bring in a younger crowd, something the Major Food Group team are experts at. Julian Niccolini and Alex von Bidder, who have owned the iconic restaurant for forty years, move out next year to make space for the newcomers, and plan to relocate to elsewhere in the city.
