Red Rooster London

Based in Harlem, Red Rooster is one of New York's must visit eateries and this London outpost has the same buzz

A homage to the neighbourhood and inspired by Harlem's iconic diner culture - this buzzy bistro (situated a block from Sylvia’s on Lenox Avenue off 125th Street) serves up global soul street food and has been fundamental in bringing about a renaissance of the local culinary scene. The London outpost is to be housed in the Curtain Road 'urban resort' hotel by New York-based Michael Achenbaum of the Gansevoort Hotel Group. In addition Marcus Samuelsson is overseeing the members' club at The Curtain hotel and an all-day taqueria and bar.

Founded by renowed Ethiopian-Swedish chef Marcus Samuelsson (formerly of the award-wining Aquavit and a winner of Top Chef Masters) you can expect home-cooked (comfort food) favourites from Stockholm (gravlax, Swedish meatballs) and Harlem (mac and cheese, fried chicken, oxtail stew). The London outpost  also replicates the laid back cheerful charm complete with antique bric-a-brac, works from local artists and live music - everyone from John Legend to Alicia Keys has performed in the downstairs Ginny's Supper Club.

Red Rooster Shoreditch celebrates Samuelsson’s take on American comfort food classics with many signature dishes from the Harlem original, with new dishes created especially for Shoreditch. The restaurant features a large, dine-at open kitchen with adjacent DJ booth. Designed by global hospitality interior design firm Duncan Miller Ullman - encompassing New York’s modern industrial feel.
