'World's first' Edible Alcohol Sweet Shop

The founders of cocktail confectionery company Smith & Sinclair have opened what they claim is the “world’s first edible alcohol shop” in London.

A new pop-up shop is offering the nostalgic flavours of our favourite childhood treats with a very grown-up twist. Smith & Sinclair's Eat Your Drink store claims to be the world's first edible alcohol shop. It opens on the ground floor of Benefit on Carnaby Street from 18 November until Christmas Eve. It will offer boozy handmade versions of the sweets we grew up with - from cocktail-flavoured candy floss to whisky-drenched fruit pastilles.

Former chef Emile Bernard and ex-PR Melanie Goldsmith came up with the idea, as a way to let people "experience" alcohol in new and different ways - from chewing sweets to licking lollies. As well as their own online store, some of their creations are stocked in Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.

The Carnaby Street shop will sell a range of sweets not yet available online, including vodka glasses made from edible candy floss - in flavours of black cherry and hibiscus or beetroot and bubblegum. Alcoholic dip dabs will be available in Pina Colada and Mojito flavours and boxes of fruit pastilles will be stocked in gin, rum, and whisky flavours - and yes, there will be samples.
