There was no big launch bash, and there are definitely no sparkly candles with magnum champagne bottles making their way across a crowded dance floor a la most other clubs in Dubai... no, since its recent opening, Little Black Door is redefining a night out in Dubai, one epic evening at a time.
Developed with tremendous attention to detail, the 'urban gentleman's lounge' features an unexpected mix of old-world elegance and NYC loft trendiness. There's crystal chandeliers, candlelit fireplaces, plush carpets, and also exposed brick walls, a whiskey decanter lit hallway, and funky light bulbs - with most of the interiors made to order using materials sourced from around the world. A show-stopping lotus lion gong - the motif is repeated at the (black, but not so little) door - presides over the decor. The music is fittingly eclectic, with everything from Motown and old-school hip hop to soul electro, Brit fashion house and remixed jazz being belted out inside the sound-proofed space.
With ex-La Petite Maison manager running the show, the gourmet menu features creatively conceived indulgences such as Foie gras in mini brioche hot dog buns topped with pickled shallots and gherkin; truffles and pecorino cheese sprinkled with chives and garlic salt; and mini doughnuts with dulce de leche sauce, blueberry and almond maple syrup, plus there are healthy options too. The expertly crafted - and cleverly named - cocktails continue the theme of giving contemporary interpretations to the classics, divided into categories such as 'The Intellectual', 'The Traveller', and 'Old Fashioned, New Style'; there are fun sharing/group cocktails and divine dessert drinks on offer too.
This is where those in the know are partying... are U?
