Oktoberfest-ing In Dubai

The Oktoberfest tent at Grand Hyatt Dubai is just one of the ways to celebrate this German beer festival in the desert!

Who knew this Bavarian beer blow-out would become such a thing in Dubai? Going strong for ten years now, the bespoke Oktoberfest tent at the Grand Hyatt transports you straight into a Munchen Biergarten with its blue and white 'sky' ceilings, staff dressed in traditional lederhosen, and the “Die Kirchdorfer” band from Germany. The chefs cook up an appropriately traditional feast, including delicacies like Münchener Weisswurst (white sausages), Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), and Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel).
The tent opens on October 5 with a barbecue buffet dinner (from AED 190 per head) and is open from Saturday through Tuesday with à la carte menu offerings. They also offer a Saturday brunch buffet - AED 299 per head, including house beverages.

For those looking for something a bit different, Baxzar in DIFC is serving up a special menu of traditional specialities such as homemade pretzels, authentic German sausage and sauerkraut, alongside a wide range of hops - from not just Germany, oddly, but 15 different countries - at affordable prices starting from AED 35.

And for those looking to have an educational Oktoberfest, beverage specialists The Tasting Class are offering a special German Beer tasting on October 23, and a Craft Beer Tasting on the 24th, at The Media City amphitheatre which is hosting Oktoberfest Dxb - a 10-day celebration involving concerts, games, themed brunches, and of course, German beers, taking place from October 20-29 (entry AED 25).
