The exact location of the property is yet to be revealed, however, Andrew Zobler, founder and chief executive of Sydell Group, the company behind the NoMad brand, confirmed that he is close to announcing the details of the venture, which is expected to have around 100-bedrooms. This will be Zobler’s second hotel opening in London, as Sydell Group has spent the past five years creating the ambitious 252-bedroom Ned hotel, in collaboration with Soho House & Co.
Zobler is renowned for creating unique hotels rooted in their location and architecture. The 'pleasingly Parisian' NoMad Hotel is located in the heart of the historic NoMad neighborhood, North of Madison Square Park in a turn of the century Beaux-arts building, is stylish residential in feel, gorgeously grand (by French designer Jacques Garcia) and embraces a 'luxuriously nomadic lifestyle'. Two further NoMad hotels are currently in construction in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Other New York institutions have already made the move. Nightlife entrepreneur-turned-hotelier André Balazs, the hotelier behind celebrity hangouts such as Chateau Marmont in Hollywood and the Chiltern Firehouse in London is to open a branch of his Standard Hotel in King's Cross and The Curtain hotel (in Shoreditch) is the latest venture from New York hotelier Michael Achenbaum, who is behind the city's Gansevoort hotels.
