The Test Kitchen

Acclaimed chef Adam Simmonds' year-long pop-up restaurant in Soho...

The Test Kitchen is a year-long pop-up (taking over the old Barrafina site on Frith Street) which sees Simmonds trial new flavours and cooking techniques ahead of a full restaurant. The Test Kitchen has no set genre but instead, it is a celebration of his food journey to date, an amalgamation of his time spent in award winning kitchens including Le Gavroche and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons as well as his extensive travels around Scandinavia and Europe which have constantly inspired and influenced his cooking.

The seats are positioned around a chef’s counter that snakes around the room, with chef-diner interaction (and feedback) as part of the experience. Animated mirrors lining the walls play host to ingredient lists and dish development ideas. Expect to see plenty of solid flavours on the menu, likewise, his Michelin experience ensures that every dish is a considered accomplishment.

This is a precursor to a permanent site pencilled in for 2018. Named by the Good Food Guide as one of the decade’s 'chefs to watch', Adam Simmonds has built a remarkable reputation leading some of Britain’s finest kitchens and being awarded a Michelin-star at Denesfield House as well as a finalist on the BBC's Great British Menu in 2014. Known for his light and delicate plates, which engage all the senses and with the seasons as his guiding influence, top-quality ingredients are always showcased front and centre.
