The campaign is calling for the world’s top 30 seafood producing countries, to introduce new policy changes that stop overfishing, limit bycatch and protect habitats, which will ultimately help hundreds of millions of people who depend on the world’s oceans for their sustenance.
The chefs so far supporting the campaign include well-known names, such as Ferran Adrià (Head Chef at three-Michelin star restaurant, El Bulli), Grant Achatz (Head Chef and Owner of three-Michelin star restaurant, Alinea) and Daniel Humm (Chef and Co-Owner of three-Michelin star restaurant The NoMad in New York City).
The campaign will officially be launched at the Basque Culinary Centre in San Sebastian in Spain (on Tuesday 17 March 2015) and all of the supporting chefs (including the aforementioned) will be attending.
The event will include a short documentary, guest speakers, discussions and the launch of a digital edition of the book “The Perfect Protein” written by Oceana Chief Executive, Andrew Sharpless.
