The pop-up bar was inspired by an owl café that already exists in Tokyo, and is proving so popular; tickets are only now available by ballot. The £20 entry charge, which includes two drinks, will go towards The Barn Owl Centre, a conservation charity, which is providing the birds.
There will also be a professional falcon trainer on hand "at all times to make sure that [the owls] play nicely with the general public." And, to keep in line with the owls' sleeping habits, the bar will be open at night from 8:30pm until 2am.
Update. After concerns from animal welfare groups regarding the provision of two alcoholic cocktails per person at Annie the Owl, the organisers have decided to no longer serve alcoholic drinks/cocktails during the event but will now be serving smoothies instead.
