Mathura by Atul Kochhar

A follow-up collaborative project with Tina English, a recognised innovator of London’s Indian dining scene with whom Kochhar successfully opened Kanishka in Mayfair.

The celebrated restaurateur and cookery book author, Kochhar was the first Indian chef in the world to receive a Michelin star at the acclaimed Tamarind of Mayfair in 2001. Named after a capital city of King Kanishka, an emperor of the Kushan dynasty in the second century, the large restaurant and bar (by Rosendale Design, also behind the likes of The Game Bird and Cabotte) is housed in the former Westminster Fire Station - in a Grade II-listed Edwardian building.

Mathura’s menu stays true to the signature Indian flair for which Kochhar is known, continuing to use locally sourced British produce while offering unique and unexpected elements - with influences from neighbouring countries - Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China and Myanmar.
