Opera Tavern

The beloved Spanish-Italian small plates restaurant in Covent Garden is pleasingly back in business.

Sister to tapas restaurants, Salt Yard, Ember Yard and Dehesa, Opera Tavern opened in 2011 in a former pub in the heart of theatreland and become something of an institution - well known for its quality Spanish and Italian-style tapas. Now it is a stylish bar-with-food downstairs (complete with communal & counter seating) and a more formal restaurant-with-booking upstairs, which has benefited from a well-considered makeover.

Head Chef Lukasz Kiełbasiński, formerly of Daphne’s and Salt Yard oversees the excellent menu which features some old favourites (the famous Ibérico pork burger and N’duja scotch egg) alongside must try new dishes such as sharing plate of Iberico pork served with piquillo pepper relish & pork glaze and chargrilled paleta with tropea onion & bone marrow - all delivered by knowledgeable and charming staff. A perfect pit-stop for any trips to theatreland and as setting for long leisurely lunches and intimate dinners.
