Cafe Murano - Covent Garden

Angela Hartnett has opened a second Café Murano on Tavistock Street in Covent Garden. Much like the original Café Murano, which opened (in 2013) at 33 St. James’s Street, Café Murano Tavistock Street has a simple and seasonal approach to Italian cooking, in a relaxed convivial atmosphere.

The menus and wine list are inspired by recent trips to Italy and Angela working alongside new Head Chef, Richard Lloyd, formerly sous chef at Hartnett, Holder and Co. Additionally, Café Murano Tavistock Street has a food and wine shop adjacent to the restaurant - which specialises in freshly prepared pasta, sauces and Italian wines all to take away.

The 140 cover restaurant is set across two floors, designed by ‘Russell Sage Studios’ - think terracotta leather upholstered banquette seating and dark wooden tables. The ground floor features a Carrara marble bar for counter dining and opposite the bar, a marble counter showcases fresh, seasonal produce, breads and antipasti. Upstairs, the 64 cover dining space has a distinct atmosphere (with a glass roof) and comprises of a bar and (midnight-blue) banquette seating.

The menu (which changes with the seasons) will be northern Italian in focus, with a particular emphasis on the coastal regions. An all-Italian wine list (with the exception of a select grower Champagne list), which has been curated by Emily Harman, (former sommelier at the River Café and wine buyer for the Zetter Group) complements the menu’s dishes and includes new discoveries from independent and artisanal producers. As well as a select list of cocktails which specialise in Italian spirits and interpretations of classics.
